Run for the Fallen Maine is an organization dedicated to keeping alive the memory of our military heroes that gave their lives to protect our freedom since September 11, 2001. On August 22nd 2008 I organized a group of runners to run a relay event from Ogunquit, Maine to Monument Square in Portland, Maine. The run encompassed a total of 55 miles. Each mile was dedicated to the memory of one of our heroes that lived in Maine, had family from Maine or had some ties to our home State. We were truly honored to be able to stage this event for these men and women and their families. Last year the event was hastily put together at the last minute. We didn't find out about the National Run for the Fallen until there were only 2 weeks to go. We did the best job we could with the time that we had and honored these men and their loved ones. We noticed after the run culminated in Monument Square, that families of our Fallen Heroes had no mechanism to meet and celebrate their lives in glorious setting. This year after the run all will be invited to Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth. This is one of our most stunning and symbolic spots in all of Maine where the Portland Head Lighthouse is located. There, we will celebrate the lives of these brave souls with a traditional Maine Lobster Bake. I hope this will be a fitting tribute to our Brave men and their loved ones.  This event will take place on August 22nd, 2010. I hope to see you then. The 2009 event was a very fitting tribute to our heroes and their families. I hope the 2010 event is just as glorious
